Coast Bird Photography

Tropical dry forest, mangroves, and wetlands along Colombia's Caribbean coast.

The Caribbean coast holds ecosystems distinct from the mountains. Here, tropical dry forest dominates the landscape, interspersed with mangroves and coastal wetlands. Light is more direct, seasonal cycles more pronounced, and birds have developed unique adaptations to these environments of transition between dry and wet.

A territory where light and season shape the rhythm of encounter.

The Territory

Colombia's Caribbean coast offers a unique combination of ecosystems: tropical dry forest, dense mangroves, swamps, and coastal wetlands. Each environment holds specific bird communities, from dry canopy species to the waterbirds of the estuaries.

The rhythm here follows dry and wet seasons. Bird activity shifts with water availability, the flowering of the dry forest, and the tides that determine access to the mangroves.

This is a territory that rewards patience and adaptation. Photography adjusts to the intense Caribbean light, moments of concentrated activity, and the transitions between environments that define this region.

Coming Soon

We are developing this experience for future seasons. The format will follow our established structure: extended time in one territory, small groups of one or two participants, daily practice paired with review sessions.

The route will move through dry forest, mangrove, and coastal wetland ecosystems, exploring the unique communities of birds that inhabit these seasonal environments. Full details will be released when the experience opens.
